Stupid People- Man shoots self in road-rage incident
Friday, January 7, 2005
A man shot himself in the leg after flashing his gun to another driver Monday morning, police said.
"We got a call that there was a road rage incident down about milepost 247 on the South Beeline Highway," Payson Police Lt. Don Engler said. "One occupant displayed a gun."
Payson police assisted the Gila County Sheriff's Office by stopping the suspect as he entered town limits.
"Our officers set up on the south end and when the vehicle got to the edge of town, he stopped right in front of the Sheriff's office and we conducted a high-risk stop," Engler said.
A high-risk stop is when officers take precautions by ordering a subject out of the vehicle at gunpoint as they remain behind the cover of their patrol car.
