Phoenix has top job growth among major U.S. cities - 2005-01-03 - The Business Journal of Phoenix: The Greater Phoenix metro area reported the highest over-the-year rate of job growth for November 2004 among metro areas with more than 1 million workers, according to the latest issue of the Blue Chip Job Growth Update. The Valley posted a 3.1 percent gain, which represented 51,600 nonfarm jobs. Arizona is ranked fifth nationally in total job growth, with a 2.9 percent increase over the same period, representing 69,900 new jobs. Nevada continues to hold the No. 1 ranking among the states, with a 4.7 percent employment increase, representing 52,800 jobs.
