Arizona Department of Transportation turns over control of city streets and highways to localities.

There seems to be a trend and it's probably a good thing. ADOT is turning over small stretches of state and federal highways to comunities and counties.
City to take control of Rt. 66, east end ramada Winslow Mail- It was an offer that city officials could not refuse. Under an agreement with the Arizona Department of Transportation, the state turns over control of city streets to Winslow and gives the city $8.2 million for repairs and improvements. At the Dec. 28 meeting, City Council approved the Turnback Agreement, which city officials and ADOT had been negotiating since 1995.
Supervisors accept Old U.S. 60 FLORENCE - The Pinal County Board of Supervisors on Wednesday established as a county highway a portion of El Camino Viejo Road (formerly known as Old U.S. Highway 60-Phoenix-Globe Highway) abandoned by the Arizona Department of Transportation.
