Chandler racing toward number five spot
Chandler racing toward number five spot: Chandler is rapidly moving past Scottsdale to become Arizona's fifth largest city. Chandler trails only Phoenix, Tucson, Mesa and Glendale. Chandler officials say their December population estimates show 229-thousand-650 residents. That's about four-thousand more than Scottsdale. State population estimates from July showed Scottsdale with 425 more residents than Chandler. Aside from bragging rights, city size is important. The state shares tax revenues with cities based on population.
