Yuma supervisors approve zoning for new refinery
Yuma supervisors approve zoning for new refinery: "It would be the first ever built in Arizona and the first in the United States in nearly three decades.
'Whether or not a refinery is built at the site remains to be seen. The vote I make is to allow the process to proceed,' said Supervisor Bob McLendon on Monday before he voted for the zoning change.
Arizona Clean Fuels still needs approval from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and state environmental regulators before it can build the facility.
If built, the refinery would be on desert land 40 miles east of Yuma."
