Improvements proposed for Ariz. election systems

YumaSun.com > News: "PHOENIX (AP) -- Secretary of State Jan Brewer is proposing a series of improvements for Arizona's elections systems, including steps to ensure vote security and instill confidence in voters. Brewer released a draft plan Monday for the public to review and comment on within the next 30 days. She'll then produce a final version for implementation. A key element will be a requirement that any new voting equipment provide a 'paper trail' that voters can check before they leave the polling place to verify their selections, Brewer said. Other steps including changing state and county election procedures to require double-checks of each precinct's results, setting minimum standards for security of polling places and ballots, and requiring that providers of computerized election equipment provide their coding for checking by state experts."
