Law prof criticizes Arpaio's plan to thumbprint drivers
By Thursday afternoon, Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies from the Avondale substation had issued 20 tickets and collected 20 thumbprints from the motorists, as part of an identity theft crackdown.
Arpaio wants drivers' thumbprints
Sheriff Joe Arpaio launched an attack against identity theft Thursday as deputies began asking southwest Valley motorists to voluntarily submit thumbprints when pulled over for routine traffic stops.
